An overview of the major developmental theories throughout the life span, with an emphasis on evaluating theories as a way to understand human behavior. Aspects of emotional, cognitive, psychosocial, personality, and spiritual development are included. The models of such theorists as Freud, Erikson, Bandura, Ainsworth, Skinner, Piaget, Kohlberg, Fowler, and Gilligan are explored. In addition, an emphasis is placed on diversity and the impact of cultural context (e.g., ethnicity, age, gender) on human development. Must be taken before PC662.
